Jubran, Salim
(1947- )
   The first Israeli Arab to be appointed to be a permanent seat on the Supreme Court of Israel, in May 2004. Born in Haifa to a Christian family, he was educated at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and went into private legal practice in 1970. In 1982, he was appointed as a judge to Haifa's magistrate's court, and in 1993, he was promoted to the city's district court, where he served for 10 years. In 2003, Jubran was initially given a temporary appointment to the Supreme Court; this was made a permanent appointment in May 2004.
